October Wrap Up!

IMG_1083-1

Hello Book Babes! So I’m going to do something here that I’ve never done before! I’m going to actually write a wrap-up post. Wooo! Alright, so I posted actual reviews for a few of these but not all of them. Let’s get started (and if you want a video version of this wrap up, check out my story on Instagram – @asthebookends)

Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco

These were both SUCH great books! If you didn’t see my review of HPD, I gave it 6 out of 5 stars. Yes, I actually added a star to my rating system because the book was that damn good. Both books were thrilling, fast moving, and just the right amount of gory. Although I was able to guess the killer in Stalking Jack fairly early on (within the first 100 pages), I enjoyed the read! I didn’t guess that killer AT ALL in HPD, but some of my book nerd friends have told me they guessed that one right away. Regardless, the characters are well developed and Cresswell alone is reason enough to read the series.

Illuminae and Gemina by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

I said it in my Instagram story, and I’ll say it again. These books will absolutely rip your heart out. They’re both written like dossiers which makes them incredibly unique and fun. I honestly thought I would hate the format, but found myself enjoying it! I’ve also heard incredible things about the Audiobook – a full cast of voice actors was hired to produce it. The romance in both books was fantastic, though I did find myself connecting more with the characters in the second book (Gemina).

Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller (Release Date: 02/27/18)

If you’re ever suffering from a book hangover, or just NEED to read a book in one sitting, Daughter of the Pirate King and Daughter of the Siren Queen are fantastic slump busters. They’re light books with a  badass pirate captain MC and a sweet and addicting romance. I wish this wasn’t a duology – I could honestly read so much more of these characters.

Reign the Earth by A.C. Gaughen (Release Date: 01/30/18)

So I haven’t taken a picture or posted an actual review for this book yet because I am doing a blog tour for it in December – keep your eyes peeled! I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. I requested it from Bloomsbury based on the recommendation of a friend and absolutely LOVED it. Every single page was incredible. The main character was the perfect combination of strong but unsure, the romance was a wonderful slow burn, and the bad guy was soooo easy to hate and sympathize with at the same time. There was one tiny thing at the end that kept me from rating this one 5 stars, but still a great book all around.

The Hundredth Queen by Emily R. King

I don’t have a picture ready for this book either because I’m doing a book tour for it in December as well! The third book in the series comes out early next year and all of the covers are STUNNING. My reading order this month was so ON POINT! I read this book after Reign the Earth left me feeling a little hungover and it was a great slump buster for me. The plot was engrossing, the romance was a slow burn (my favorite kind in case you can’t tell) and there was more elemental magic! Within seconds of finishing this book, I immediately dove for its sequel. The best part? Both books are available for FREE on Kindle Unlimited!

Here is the link if you want to check the series out. I highly recommend!

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

I will actually be posting the picture I took for this gorgeous book later this week – keep your eyes peeled. I’m posting the review soon as well so I will just say this: 5 Stars for sure!

Let me know how you like my new and improved blog! Do you like the wrap ups? Do you want to hear about my TBR for the month as well? And do you follow me on Instagram? Rumor has it there is an exciting interview and giveaway coming up soon for one of the books I just talked about! (*Wink Wink*)
